There is a salsa for every situation, there is an endless variety. At home, my salsa is very basic. When I make a batch to take to work – to my very foodie, gourmet co-workers – I aim to be as unique as possible. We also have a little competition going about who can handle the hottest salsa which can be entertaining as we all try to act as if we can handle any heat. Here are some variations to think about-
- In place of tomatoes
- In addition to tomatoes
- Tomatillos- look like a green tomato and taste like a tart, firm tomato
- In place of jalapeños
- Red or Green Chile (these are the staples of New Mexican cooking and have their own section)
- Poblano, Chipotle or Serrano Chiles
